Frome Swimming Club is one of the oldest continuously running clubs in the country, founded in 1877 in the River Frome. The club offers Learn to Swim NPTS stages 1-10, Competitive Swimming and Water Polo to our members.
In order to keep membership fees to a minimum we have been involved in organising Open Meets for a number of years. Firstly with Street and Wells & Shepton Mallet clubs under the Avalon Open Meet name, which earned the reputation of a well organised and run meet. Street then left the group and the two remaining clubs stayed together to form 3 Towers, running extremely popular meets in October and April. The success of these has meant both clubs could grow and we are now in a position to go out on our own and deliver our own meet. Frome is taking on responsibility for the Autumn Meet with Wells charged with running the Spring Meet.
The level of experience and expertise in Frome's organising committee is excellent with two of the members having been part of the team organising the original Avalon Meets and, as a result, we expect the swimmers, coaches and parents coming to our meet to see no difference in the quality or delivery, but merely a change of name on the meet headline. Jackie Herring will continue as our Meet Secretary and Promoter, Sharon Smith has control of the entries, Mary Doel will deliver the excellent catering for the officials and Susie Hann will assist.
